What makes Naples Olive Oil Company better?

Friday, September 4th, 2009

Education is one of the things we at Naples Olive Oil Company are striving for. What makes us better? We buy from small batch growers all over the world. The harvests lucky enough to be bought from our distrubutor must go through a “council” where the oil is evaluated for its oleic content, acidity level, polyphenol count and of course it’s taste. Rather than “gourmet” oil we are proud to offer “pedigree” quality oil. My favorite is the Persion Lime Olive Oil. I use it on everything. Tonight I drizzled it over corn on the cob!! YUMMY!!

tasting combos

September is upon us and only a short time before season starts again. Thanks to all of my wonderful customers the summer has been strong. Here are a couple of pairing suggestionss that were favorites last month.
Lime olive oil, Jalepeno white balsamic and Basic citrus blend makes a to die for combo. Use it to dip, dressing, drizzle over veggies (especially corn on the cob) any leftovers use to marinade. Totally addicting.
Also Walnut oil w/Cherry balsamic — huge seller this summer. Great dressing throw some nuts in the salad — yum yum
until next time — happy and healthy eating!! Marie

I have a confession

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

I think I have a great blog and get  lots of wonderful comments from my much loved followers and fellow “oilies” however on my most recent post I did get reprimanded about the spelling errors which are clearly and admittedly professionally unacceptable. So I have to admit to you all that I have not been personally blogging.  I have a team that works on my website with very talented people.   The young man who has been ghost blogging is really the one with all the clever posts –he is wonderful (and very cute!) but it is now time for me to take over the reigns (that’s probably not the right spelling either) . So since  I am an olive oil entrepreneur not a spelling teacher my posts will most likely always have some errors– so please extrapalate the content and overlook the rest.  Thank you to all my customers and online followers– we are continually striving for new product and an ever evolving cyber presence.    And this completes my as promised second blog this week.

as promised I am blogging.  Please comment to my posts as I really want to write about things you want to know.  My new favorite is vanilla balsamic vinegar over vanilla flavored greek lowfat yogurt —YUM YUM YUM   I have it every night as a desert.  The balsmic flavors a liquer as opposed vinegar.  The calcium in the yogurt is completely absorbable — no preservatives or anything that will eventually kill you.  And it tastes Great. — try it.

Untill tomorrow —

Strawberries with Balsamic Vinegar

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

I recently came across a recipe that I had had had to share with you.  It’s extremely simple, healthy, and flavorful!  Strawberries with Balsamic Vinegar, that’s it.  Now, here’s what I do.

First, you will want to cut the stems off your strawberries.  You can use however many you want, but I’ll base the measurements on 1 pound (16 oz.) of strawberries.  After you finishing cutting the stems, you will pour approximately 2-3 tablespoons of either traditional balsamic (my preference) or strawberry balsamic vinegar over the strawberries.  You can find the Traditional 18 Year Balsamic Vinegar here and the Strawberry Balsamic Vinegar here.  After drizzling the balsamic vinegar over the strawberries, simply sprinkle 1/4 cup of sugar over the bowl and place in the refrigerator 1 hour before it’s ready to be served.

Olive oil to wash your dog?

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Ever heard of Olive oil to wash your dog? Yes, it may sound weird but a lot of people are doing it. When you use Olive oil to wash your dog it actually helps the health of the skin and the coat of the dog. You want to make sure you are using the right type of Olive Oil though, for example, you probably do not want to use Garlic Olive oil to wash your dog due to the smell but using Olive oil to wash your dog is a really great thing to do and with the cost of good pet shampoos it really isn’t that much different in cost.

Feel free to browse our store for all of the different types of Olive Oil.

This white balsamic has the taste of a fresh pineapple, and is well suited for fresh salads, grilling, or cooking. Mixes well with a chicken salad topped with pineapple chunks. Also great for grilling shrimp, peppers, and onions.

Sweet Hojiblanca Spanish Olive Oil

A perfect combination of bold, rich fruity flavored oil, which has sweet tones as well as a slight pepper finish. Hojiblanca olive oils from the province of Priego, Cordoba (SPAIN) are constant top place finishers in International competition. Notes: Ripe fruity aroma with a strong presence of grass and apple. Slightly peppery aftertaste with hints of almond.
