Strawberries with Balsamic Vinegar

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

I recently came across a recipe that I had had had to share with you.  It’s extremely simple, healthy, and flavorful!  Strawberries with Balsamic Vinegar, that’s it.  Now, here’s what I do.

First, you will want to cut the stems off your strawberries.  You can use however many you want, but I’ll base the measurements on 1 pound (16 oz.) of strawberries.  After you finishing cutting the stems, you will pour approximately 2-3 tablespoons of either traditional balsamic (my preference) or strawberry balsamic vinegar over the strawberries.  You can find the Traditional 18 Year Balsamic Vinegar here and the Strawberry Balsamic Vinegar here.  After drizzling the balsamic vinegar over the strawberries, simply sprinkle 1/4 cup of sugar over the bowl and place in the refrigerator 1 hour before it’s ready to be served.

Our all-natural barrel aged Strawberry Balsamic Vinegar of Modena, Italy, has been blended with sweet strawberry puree to create a rich and versatile vinegar. It’s sweet yet subtle character transforms the world famous culinary vinegar into a simple, refreshing condiment. Combined with olive oil, it will improve the flavor of a spinach salad or simply drizzle over vanilla ice cream.
